Money Saving Tip - Landscaping

Today's great money saving tip is....

Landscaping:

If you are planning on doing some landscaping or just creating a
nice flower garden area, shopping for plants, can be expensive
even when they are on sale. Before you go out and start
spending, look around your yard to see if you have existing plants
that can be split or that you can get starts from.

Additionally, if you have a good relationship with any of your
neighbors, you might ask them if they have any plants you could
use as a starter. Perhaps you could work out a trade, so that both
of you will have more to plant without spending any extra money.

Another great idea is the next time you plan to purchase a
lawnmower, look for one that mulches leaves. This way, rather
than spending a small fortune on prepackaged mulch for your
flowerbeds every year, you can simply use the mulch you make.

Insurance:

You have to have it for your home, car, boat, motorcycle and even
for your life. Its insurance, and it can be very expensive.

around and negotiate. Some people think the price of
insurance is the same from one company to the next. However,
prices can vary dramatically and to ensure you get the best
deal, you need to consider all your options.

Use the Internet or call, it doesn't matter how you do it just make
sure that you get quotes from different insurance companies
before you make your final decision. If you have questions, or
you're having trouble find a good agent. They can
provide information on discounts such as good student,
multi-car discount, etc

Money Saving Tip - Keep Track

Today's great money saving tip is....

Keep Track:

It is important to have an understanding of where your money
goes. Keep a journal where you can see your successes when it
comes to saving money. This can be a bit challenging and takes
time to learn, but it's worth it. By keeping a list of the ways you
have saved money in front of you, you will be more encouraged to
keep going. These successes can be small or large.

For example, if you normally buy your lunch, costing you from
$5.00 to $7.00 per day and one week straight you packed your
own lunch for $3.00 per day that is a success. If you wanted to
buy a new pair of shoes, but held off until it went on sale, saving
50%, that is another success.

Saving money requires some investigative skills, desire,
determination, and creativity. Once you get in the habit of saving
money, you will feel better about yourself and enjoy life much
more without debt hanging over your head!

EXTRA TIP Almost everyone over 60 looks for senior fares and rates, at the same time The National Park Service
offers some outstanding programs for folks.
First off the Golden Age Passports for those 62 years and older offers permanent benefits to the holders. The entrance to any National Park should have the current details on cost and benefits. Another lesser known pass is the Golden Access Passport for Blind or Permanently disabled persons.
Little time on your hands, wanting to enjoy a month or more vacation at little or no cost? The National Park Service Volunteer-In-Park Program would be well worth looking into. Think about Volunteer Programs for your special interests, talents and spare time.

Money Saving Tip - Be Flexible

Today's great money saving tip is....

Be Flexible:

You've worked hard, set your goals for saving and you are sticking
to it, that's great! But you must realize that things can and will
change and you must be ready for that. The secret is learning
ways to be flexible.

Let's say you normally save $150 a month, when something
unexpected happens and you have to dip into the money that you
would normally save. It's important not to get discouraged when
this happens.

Do your best to put away at least a little bit of the money you
were planning to save away even if it's only $50, $25 or as
little as $5 that month. This will keep you in the habit of saving
and then you can focus on getting back on track next month.

Money Saving Tip - Trimming

Today's great money saving tip is....

Trimming:

Keep track of your spending for a couple of months and then take
a good, hard look at your spending habits. You'll probably be
surprised when you look back at your records to find you've spent
$300 on pizza or $100 on ice cream. At first glance you will be
likely see some obvious cuts that you can make.

Depending on how much extra you want to save, however, you
may need to make some difficult decisions. Think about your
priorities, and make cuts you can live with. Calculate how much
those cuts will save you per year, and you'll be much more
motivated to skip that ice cream and pizza.

Money Saving Tip - Patience

Today's great money saving tip is....

Have Patience:

It's important to be patient when it comes to saving. If you have
patience you can save a lot more money than if you don't. This
means that you have to accept that it will take time and good
planning to save

Be patient and remember that just because you want something
doesn't mean that you have to rush to buy just to satisfy your urge.

Before you buy anything shop around and compare it with other
things. Wait for sales in order to get the best price and call before
you go to the store to make sure they have what your looking
for in stock. This will save you more money by not wasting gas
on a pointless trip. Remember the 30 day rule!

Money Saving Tip - Setting Goals

Today's great money saving tip is....

Setting Goals:

When you are planning to save it's important to break your goals
into short-term, intermediate-term, and long-term goals.

Being able to see your accomplishments is a great motivator for
you to work hard at saving. If you set a short-term goal of saving
for tickets to the symphony and reach that goal, you will be
encouraged to keep saving for the intermediate and long-term
goals.

Once your plan becomes routine, you'll discover it's really not that
hard to save. You just have to hang in there and stick to your
plan even when you’re tempted to call it quits.

sound silly but it's true. According to a 2008 study in the Journal
of Consumer Research especially if you are you’re on a tight
