Money Saving Tip-Credit Cards

Today's great money saving tip is....

Credit Card Interest:

If you have credit cards and your credit is in good standing, call
your credit card company, and ask for your interest rate to be
lowered.

It is truly that simple. Unfortunately, most people do not even
realize this is an option so they never make the call. Just tell
the representative that you want a better rate on your credit card
and they will take care of your request.

A simple five-minute phone call to your credit card issuer could
save you hundreds, even thousands, of dollars in interest charges.

It can't hurt to ask!

Money Saving Tip - Gifts

Today's great money saving tip is....

Gifts:

If you ask people if they prefer a store bought or handmade
gift, the majority would choose the latter. Handmade gifts
are individualized and come from the heart. When you have a
birthday, anniversary, baby shower, wedding, or Christmas
gift to give, make the gift.

For Christmas, you could make a beautiful ornament or door
wreath, for a baby shower you could purchase an inexpensive
bib pattern and make special bibs, or for a wedding, you could
create a wonderful album of photos showing the couples dating
life.

Other great options include making homemade hot chocolate,
soaps, candles, or lotions and placing them in inexpensive
glass containers or baskets purchased at a thrift shop. If
you use a mason jar, add foam and fabric under the lid for
added color, use a label to write the contents and a message
of endearment, and wrap a nice piece of ribbon around the
ridge.

If you get stuck for an idea just do a search online for hand made
gift ideas and you will find ideas for every occasion. The options
are endless, so get creative.

Money Saving Tip - Consume Less

Today's great money saving tip is....

Consume Less:

Let's face it...we live in a consumer society where waste is a huge
problem. If we could all use and consume less there would be less
waste, less power consumption, and the benefits for all of us
would be, we would save money!

There are so many simple things that you can do during the day to
consume less and save money. For instance; consider using less
shampoo when you wash your hair, this may not mean washing
your hair less effectively it means not flushing the excess shampoo
and money down the drain.

When it's chilly out side turn the thermostat down and put on
extra clothes. Turn off lights, the TV and the computer when they
aren't in use.

Each little thing you do will add up and enable you to save more
money and be good for our planet and the other people on it.

In addition some health benefits being available try finding some trails for hiking, beachcombing, camping, or low cost hobbies. While you are at it visit your local library get familar with what is available there. One time in the course of my answering questions I suggested to one of my clients she get on the computer to search for some information. This older lady said she didn't have a computer. I asked her about going to a local library for a computer to use. She said, "I never thought about it, but I have a library just around the corner from my house". I told her I bet there will be someone around that would be happy to help her get acquainted with the computer and even find something on the computer for her.

Money Saving Tip - Credit Cards

Today's great money saving tip is....

Credit Cards:

When it comes to using your credit cards it's important to be wise
and frugal. Although they are very convenient, credit cards are
dangerous and damaging when used unwisely. Try to use them
only when you absolutely have to.

Did you know that if you have a credit card that has a $1,000
balance and you pay only the minimum payment each month, it will
take you between 20 and 30 years to pay off that $1,000 balance,
because the majority of money is going strictly toward the
interest and not the principal amount?
